Paul Chambers

With over 30 years of experience in education, Paul brings a unique blend of deep academic expertise and heartfelt mentorship to every tutoring session. Semi-retired but fully passionate, he has spent the last five years offering freelance private tutoring across the Greater Toronto Area, supporting students of all ages in reaching their academic and personal goals.

Paul’s journey includes serving as Department Head at St. Peter’s College in Etobicoke, where he led curriculum development in English Literature and specialized in TOEFL, PSAT, and SAT preparation. He also played a key role in adapting the Ontario curriculum for ESL learners, ensuring accessibility and success for students of diverse backgrounds.

Earlier in his career, Paul managed the Hamilton School of English in Tokyo, teaching ESL to students aged 10 to 85. There, he built a full ESL curriculum from the ground up, tailoring it to both private and group classes.

As the founder of The English Tutor, Paul has supported students from Grade 4 through graduate school. His expertise in test prep and university application guidance has helped students gain acceptance into top-tier institutions such as UCLA, USC, Duke, Stanford, McGill, Queen’s, U of T’s Rotman School of Business, and more.

Paul is especially skilled at working with students who face academic challenges, including those with learning differences or who have struggled in traditional classroom environments. With patience, empathy, and individualized strategies, he helps students build confidence, develop effective learning habits, and unlock their full potential.
